She's never heard such an insane idea as the one about which her cellmate is currently blathering on. There’s no way they won’t get caught yet it sounds like the most fun Ivy’s ever had. What is it about this girl in pigtails, she wonders, that makes her willing to try such crazy things, knowing full well what will happen? What is it about her that, for the first time in Poison Ivy’s life, makes her want to just cut loose and have fun?

“Count me in, blondie.” Harley beams excitedly at her; Ivy feels her breath catch and her chlorophyll slow. Time slows to a crawl; she realizes what it is about this blonde that enthralls her so. She also remembers an old country love song she heard once, and for the first time, she doesn’t hate the song.

Timber! She’s been hit! She’s falling in love! She used to hate that song for all it represented, making it seem like a woman could do nothing but fall for and chase after a man and was powerless to stop her attraction to him and for making light of the millions of trees that are being slaughtered every day. But this isn’t any lumberjack’s axe with which she’s been hit.

Ivy rocks back and watches Harley spinning about their cell like an excited top. The girl really is beautiful, even when she’s having her moments of insanity, and she’s kind. She’s seen her with animals. She knows humans are loathsome, filthy, stupid beasts, but she’s never been unkind to an animal, or to Ivy for that matter. She’s got a big heart.

As Harley continues to talk about her planned heist, Ivy’s mind turns to the color red. For the longest time, red has represented the blood of humanity which Ivy strives to pour. Her Mother’s children, her brothers and sisters, and her own babies will never be safe until the last human being is dead -- or so she’s believed ever since being reborn. Perhaps, though, she doesn’t have to become the single mother of the whole world. Perhaps there is one other person with whom she can stand.

The red of blood becomes petals of roses flowing in Ivy’s mind. Her Mother recreated her for the mission that landed her in this joint and beside this crazy, beautiful woman. Maybe her Mother created Harley too. She has her beauty and her wild ideas. Everything on Earth belongs to Mother Nature. She even gave birth to mankind, so surely Harley must be one of hers, one of her better creations, Ivy thinks, watching her spin.

Harley stops suddenly, stars dazzling her. She’s spun herself silly, but Ivy’s there to catch her. As she does, she can’t help thinking that every bit of this was predestined. Her Mother always intended her to find Harley, for them to find each other. Life is about to get a lot more fun, a lot more insane, and still more beautiful. Ivy can barely wait!
